Okie dokies...one of the biggest personal projects by far...taking up the Zodiac signs. Instead of pouting and crying like a baby during the time when I had to leave school for the quarter, I decided to take up Josh's idea of doing the zodiac girls to keep myself busy and also to get better at drawing. So then I only did the whole crying thing half the time instead of 24/7 (teh heh). I really don't remember much of the descriptions I found for these, but for Aries I recall something like she's supposed to be innocent or something. So to give her a somewhat childlike quality, I drew those furisode sleeves which are meant for young girls when they wear kimono. Her hair I kinda played up the bit of how Aries the sign generally looks like, but I wanted those to be subtle. Made her pouty and wringing her hands in front as if to say, "what did I do?" and then totally dish out the trembling lower lip...lol. In each of the Zodiac gals piece, I drew their symbol somewwhere on their person so if anyone looked at these carefully enough, they'd know where I got the idea from. After awhile though, I stopped looking at the descriptions for reference cause it didn't matter really how the pose came out, their descriptions are so vague to begin w/anyways. After I was done drawing these, Josh got the chance to color them. I think my only rule was that they had to look tangible, and look like they were done using a traditional medium. I think he took the challenge well enough and I also believe that this was our real first successful attempt and merging the two elements together (doing stuff by hand, and doing stuff by computer).

I get it. The horns are acually her hair. You pulled off the child like "what did I do?" thing really well. She's so cute. I can't believe this is digital, it looks like a water color.
