AKA - The inking that would never end...
This is actually my best friend's work but I wanted to ink it digitally (because I really like her concepts and designs and also because I'm just masochistic that way). In the beginning all I had to work with was a really crappy quality JPEG that I got from ASMR (another DB), so I had to do a lot of deciphering within the piece...luckily enough Jen (the friend) gave me a printed copy to use as reference.
So this was inked in Photoshop. It took me one week, continuously working on it whenever I'd wake up or come back home from school. Black Betty took so long because of all the detail work involved; I redrew each of those individual pearls instead of copy+paste because I didn't want to lose Jen's exquisite detail work. During the process I only worked with a hard brush using black, and cleaned up my edges with the eraser. I added all the pretty stuff after I was done, using gradients to add some subtle colors and light painting on her face; I didn't want to take away Jen's personal touch from this.
